Pre-requisites: Algebra I and Chemistry
Textbook: Physics – Douglas C. Giancoli
This is a one year introductory course which will give the student a thorough understanding of the basic concepts of physics and, by means of interesting applications, prepare them to use it in their lives and professions.
The following topics are covered: Measurement, kinematics, force dynamics, circular and rotational motion, work and energy momentum, equilibrium, fluids, sound, laws of thermodynamics, electricity, currents, circuits, capacitance, light, magnetism, electromagnetic induction and waves, optical instruments, special theory or relativity, quantum theory and mechanics, nuclear energy, elementary particles, astrophysics and cosmology.
The laboratory investigations reinforce the concepts covered. They also develop reasoning power and the ability to apply physics principles.
